After its debut last year, Shrewsbury Pride returned over the weekend with its message of love, inclusivity and diversity, providing a platform for the LGBTQ+ community.
Homes Plus sponsored the event in Market Square on Saturday, 28th September, through our Community Fund.
We chose to support Shrewsbury Pride this year, with the event mirroring our values around inclusivity and as part of our commitment to LGBTQ+ equality and support. Homes Plus supports the LGBTQ+ Housing Pledge – a scheme designed to make sure LGBTQ+ residents can enjoy their homes without fear of discrimination.
Becky Hughes, Interim director of improving the customer experience at Homes Plus, said: “We’re really passionate about supporting causes that benefit local people and promote inclusion. That’s why we wanted to sponsor Shrewsbury Pride this year.
“Making a positive difference to the homes, lives and communities we serve is part of our vision as an organisation and we believe that by supporting Shrewsbury Pride we are helping to take a stand with the LGBTQ+ community.”
Homes Plus colleagues joined the celebrations and took part in the Pride parade which set off from Shrewsbury’s Market Square at 12 noon. It follows our sponsorship of Stafford’s first ever Pride festival earlier this year.
Shrewsbury Pride Co-organisers, Phil and Jens, said: “Although this year is only the second Pride festival Shrewsbury has held, we’ve been delighted to see the love and support we’ve been receiving. It really makes a difference and has led to this year’s Shrewsbury Pride being a packed weekend. We really couldn’t have done it without the backing and help of local businesses and the local community. An enormous thank you to you all.”
